Training and Jeans, Doing What You Say You Would, and How To WIN.

Want to know how to win in whatever you set out to do? Here’s how.

It’s 10:50pm and I’m taking a short break from posting training related content today. I had a LONG day that started with a cranky 18 month old and ended in a chest and biceps workout in jeans. Stay with me.

About a week ago, I made a point to promise myself a couple things.

  1. I wont skip workouts
  2. I will post 1 blog post and 1 video to my YouTube channel (CLICK HERE to subscribe) each day.

After getting a late start and no breakfast (I should have added not skipping meals to the list), I finally got to my gym around 12 pm. In jeans and a t-shirt.

I wasn’t in the training mood today, so I didn’t really care.

I worked tirelessly until about 8:30pm. Client meetings, marketing plans, number reviews. I chained myself to my desk…

Ready to blow off the workout for the day, and the blog post. After all it was going to take me about 30 minutes to wrap up and another 30 to get home…not to mention my left shoulder is fucked (I can’t lift my arm), and I need to be awake at 4am to train the morning crew at the PIT.

I packed my bag and got it ready for the car.

Then I remembered a few things:

I remembered what I tell people when they’re tired: “Do it anyway.”

I remembered what I tell people when they don’t feel like it: “Do it anyway.”

I remembered why I train: To rise to the occasion if I’m ever needed in that 1% life or death situation. I’d rather it be me than someone who is physically ill-prepared. It’ll be better odds for everyone involved.

I remembered that in order to be successful you MUST do what you said you would do. This is the difference between the winners and losers.

If you don’t keep your word, you have no right to complain about why things aren’t going your way.

If you do keep your word, you’ll be too busy to notice if they don’t.

Say what you’ll do, then do what you say. That’s how you win

I stayed and trained (it was chest day) with an empty stomach, a jacked up shoulder, and jeans — and I got my blog post and video in.

After all, what kind of coach would I be if I didn’t?
